Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
